"Unsuck the Earth Day, Please" is what Kate Sheppard, amazing journalist for Mother Jones, demands to her readers, society and the system. That she "can't stand Earth Day" is no wonder and I totally agree with her.
Her complains about how the US political and bureaucratic system has been repeatedly failling to address the most imperative environmental issues during the last years can be for some readers way to pessimistic and fatalistic. But environmentalists like her, or like me, are not always complaining for the sake of just complaining. It seems we are the only people that feel the urge to change things for good, to ensure a better future for our families and for ourselves. It seems we are the only people that has managed to see above and beyond the comfort zone of the consumerist societies we live in.
Maybe it is great for you to have us complaining all the time. We won't give up pointing out what's wrong and what has to be changed.
